Abstract

788,011. Locking bolts; cotters. NASH, N. H. Feb. 2, 1956 [May 24, 1955], No. 14957/55. Classes 89(1) and 89(2) A retaining-pin for securing parts together, comprises a shank 1, Fig. 3, with an eccentric bore 2, Fig. 1, containing a rod 3 screwed at one end 4 to a nut 5, and bent at its other end to form a handle 7. When the handle is turned through 180 degrees from the position shown, the nut projects eccentrically from the shank to prevent removal of the pin from the bore in which it is inserted. The enlarged end 12 of the shank has a boss 19 concentric with bore 2 and formed with opposed notches 10, 11 to locate the handle in its two alternative positions. The handle is stressed to maintain the rod permanently in tension.
