814,637. Spinning and finishing yarns. VEREINIGTE GLANZSTOFF - FABRICKEN A. G. July 31, 1957 [Aug. 1, 1956], No. 24338/57. Class 120(3) In the production of high-twist yarn having a predetermined fixed component twist whereby stretch effects are imparted, yarn 1 is withdrawn from a supply twist spindle 2 and passed in a continuous operation through a twisting tube, as at 6, rotating in the same direction as the spindle 2 but at a slower speed which may be adjustable, the component twist thereby obtained being fixed by means of a heater 5 and the full twist due to the rotation of the spindle 2 being restored to the yarn between the tube 6 and a yarn winding means 9, 11. The heater 5 may consist of a tube containing a liquid the temperature (150‹-170‹C.) of which is adjustable, or it may be operated electrically. The yarn may be moistened, as by rollers immersed in a liquid, before passage through the heater.
