Abstract

813,048. Bolted joints. MAGNESIUM ELEKTRON Ltd. Oct. 15, 1956 [Sept. 8, 1955], No. 25725/55. Class 83 (4). [Also in Groups XVIII, XXV and XXVI] In order to prevent corrosion between attached dissimilar metal parts, such as steel parts in contact with copper, aluminium, magnesium and their alloys, one of the parts, e.g. a nut or a bolt, or a cover plate for bolting to a base, is provided, at the radially outer part of its contacting surface 1, with a recess 2 in which is firmly engaged a ring 3 of non-electrically conducting resilient material, e.g. a synthetic plastic, such as nylon, which surrounds the contacting surface and extends outwardly to an extent greater than the maximum diameter of one of said parts. The recess 2 may be provided in either of the attached parts.
