[Also in Group IX] A bobbin for spinning frames, the studs of which for anchoring the bobbin to a driving spindle are integral with the body of the bobbin or with the body of a ring arranged at one end of the bobbin tube, is characterized in that the studs consist of inwardly extending protruberances formed on the bobbin tube or on the said ring by a drawing, swaging, stamping, extruding or moulding operation. A tube 1 of aluminium or of an aluminium alloy containing magnesium and/or silicon has its bore enlarged at its ends 7 and 8. A light alloy ring 2 is held in the end 7 by pressing over the edge 9 and is preferably punched at two points 6 to fix it in position. A plug 3 of thermosetting plastic or of fibrous material and formed with a conical bore 10 to engage the spindle on which the bobbin is mounted is inserted in the end 8 and a cap 4, e.g. of plastic, is then placed in the end 8 to hold the plug 3 in position, the cap 4 itself being held by folding over the edge 11 of the tube 1. The ring 2 may be cut from a tube produced by drawing or extruding with internal longitudinal projections 5, 5<SP>1</SP>, which comprise the studs for anchoring the bobbin to the driving spindle.
