812,423. Spray-producers. FILM COOLING TOWERS (1925) Ltd., and HOWE, E. A. A. Jan. 8, 1957 [Feb. 2, 1956], No. 3374/56. Class 69 (3). A sprayer for water cooling towers includes a nozzle 3 disposed in an aperture of a water pipe 1, and a flange 4 of the nozzle is secured to the pipe. The nozzle has a tapering bore with a castellated outlet edge on which rests a ball 15 retained within guides 13. In operation water flows through the bore and is whirled by grooves 12 before meeting the underside of the ball which deflects it through and over the castellations. The guides 13 allow vertical and rotary movements of the ball which may, together with the nozzle, be of non-metallic material.
