Abstract

A wood preservative composition comprises 0.025 to 5 per cent by weight of one or more of the pesticidal agents 1 : 2 : 3 : 4 : 10 : 10-hexachloro - 1 : 4 : 4a : 5 : 8 : 8a - hexahydro - 1 : 4 : 5 : 8 - di - endo - methanonaphthalene; 1 : 2 : 3 : 4 : 10 : 10 - hexachloro - 6 : 7 - epoxy - 1 : 4 : 4a : 5 : 6 : 7 : 8 : 8a - octahydro - 1 : 4 : 5 : 8 - di-methano-naphthalene and Dieldrin, and 0.5 to 15 per cent by weight of one or more of copper naphthenate, mono-, di and polychloronaphthalene preferably alphamonochloronaphthalene, and pentachlorophenol or its salts. There may also be incorporated a medium having a wetting or spreading activity, e.g. an aromatic hydrocarbon having an average of 13 C atoms or an ionic or non-ionic surface-active agent, a resin, wax or dye and anti-leaching agents such as 5 per cent of dibutyl-, diethyl- or dimethylphthalate, 7 1/2 per cent of dialphanolphthalate, 5 per cent of tricresyl phosphate or 3 per cent of diethyl phosphate.
