Abstract

811,661. Washing-machines. PFENNINGSBERG G.m.b.H., P. June 26, 1956, No. 19776/56. Class 138 (2). [Also in Group XXXVII] A washing-machine is driven by a pole-change motor having two sets of windings Ms, Mw, the machine being started by closing main switch HS and turning knob i to the right. Contacts L2 are thereby closed and change-over switch L1 is operated to engage contact K2. A relay S3 is energized to open the water-inlet valves, and a pilot motor ML is started. When the maximum water-level in the machine has been reached, a switch W operates to energize relay S2 so that contacts S2b are moved to stop the admission of water and to by-pass the switch W. The motor winding Mw and heater H are energized for the washing-operation of the machine, the direction of rotation being continuously reversed by means of switch R<SP>11</SP> which has contacts R1 . . . R4 and is driven by the pilot motor. After a period, the cam-operated switch L1 is actuated to de-energize the relay S2 so that the motor winding Mw and heater H are disconnected. This is followed by the actuation of relay S1 to energize the motor-winding Ms for centrifuging operation, the pilot motor ML now being energized through contact S1b and lead R<SP>1</SP>. Repeated operations of the change-over switch L1 afford alternate washing and centrifuging periods for the machine until the contact L2 opens for terminating the washing cycle.
