Abstract

811,351. Valve amplifier circuits. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. May 22, 1956 [March 28, 1955]. No. 8946/55. Class 40 (6). [Also in Group XL (b)] A wide-band video amplifier circuit comprises a triode valve 28 to the cathode of which video pulses of a radar system are fed, and from which pulses pass to the cathode of an earthed-grid triode valve 32 via a high-frequency transformer comprising coaxial cables 26, 27, and reducing the pulse voltage (see Group XL (b)). The anode of the valve 28 is connected to the inner conductor of the cable 26, and the grid is connected to the earthed outer conductor or the cable 27, the input ends of the cables 26, 27 being connected in series, and the output ends in parallel. The cables 26, 27 feed the pulses to the cathode of the valve 32 via a transformer isolating the cathode heater, and as described in Specification 811,352, and comprising coaxial cables 33, 34, and a core 39 carrying a primary winding 40. Pulses are passed from the cables 26, 27 to the cables 33, 34 via condensers 35, 36, 37, 38, segregating the direct current supplies of the valves 28, 32, and are fed to the cathode of the valve 32 via condensers 41, 42. The cathode heater is energized by a loop comprising the inner conductors of the cables 33, 34 and forming the secondary winding of the heater isolating transformer. The input pulses to the valve 28 may also be fed through a similar transformer for isolating the cathode heater.
