In a capsule sealing head of the kind in which an elastic cup 3 is surrounded by a hydraulic pressure chamber 1 and is compressed about the neck of the bottle by an increase of pressure in the chamber, the pressure in the chamber is varied by a diaphragm 17 moved by a constant stroke actuating member 20 and an adjustable supplementary diaphragm 27 is provided. A thumb screw 39 threaded in a plate 31 is used to adjust the position of diaphragm 27. The plate 31 is carried on loader 29 and is held in place by springs 36 so that, on excess pressure being developed in the chamber 1, the plate can move, allowing the diaphragm 27 to expand.
