Abstract

810,591. Pallets for handling loads. FISHER & LUDLOW Ltd. March 14, 1957 [March 21, 1956], No. 8764/56. Class 78 (4). The upper and lower decks 11 (Fig. 2) of a pallet are spaced by members 10 of V or inverted V-section welded between metallic elements in the upper and lower decks. Each deck may comprise members 11 of channel section with their downwardly - projecting flanges bent up at 14 (Fig. 3), or may comprise a wire mesh. The ends 16 (Fig. 2) of the spacing members 10 may be bent up as shown and strengthening projections 17 may be formed in the members 10. One or both of the decks may be formed of wooden bearers secured in metal shoes which may be formed with projections 28 (Fig. 10), for welding to the spacing members 10. Metal bearing members 32 (Fig. 12) forming the lower deck may have inclined portions 34 to assist the passage of the wheels of a hand-operated truck over the elements and may have projections 35 for welding to the spacing members 10. The welds joining the decks to each bearer 10 may be made simultaneously as described in Specification 810,590.
