Abstract
809,270. Casting-machines. DEUTSCHE GOLDUND SILBER-SCHEIDEANSTALT VORM. ROESSLER. Feb. 28, 1957 [Feb. 29, 1956], No. 6761/57. Class 83 (1). [Also in Group XII] A high-vacuum induction-furnace for smelting steel comprises a crucible 12 in a vacuumchamber 11 reached through a lock-chamber 16, a rollerway-conveyer 17 traversed by a supportplate 15 carrying charge-material 14 and a chill-mould 13, and a jib-crane 19 by which the material 14 is charged into the crucible 12. The crane has a rotatable hollow column 18 journalled in the chamber casing at 22, and a grab 21 on a chain 20 extending through the column 18 to a housing 23 containing lifting-gear operated by a motor 24. The jib may be swung in a vertical plane by a drive from mechanism 25. The crucible contents may be poured into the mould by conventional mechanism.
