Abstract

846,305. Fused-electrolyte apparatus.' MONTECATINI SOC. GENERALE PER L'INDUSTRIA MINERARIA E CHIMICA, and DE VARDA, G. July 10, 1957 [July 12, 1956], No. 21850/57. Class 41. [Also in Group XXVIII] In an electrolytic furnace preferably of the type described in Specification 814,754, the electrolyte is raised from a lower cell 1 to an upper adjacent cell 4 by a ladle 12 in the form of a bucket 13 which extends into an open ended channel. The ladle is pivoted by knife-edges 14 in notches 15 and is oscillated by a rod 18 controlled by a cam 21. The ladle dips into the electrolyte in cell 1 and is then moved to the position shown in dotted lines where the electrolyte in the bucket part 13 flows through the open ended channel to the cell 4. Alternatively the ladle may be oscillated by a rotatable shaft engaging flanges on the underside of the ladle.
