809,230. Life rafts. BELIN, M. A. Nov. 27, 1957 [Nov. 30, 1956; Oct. 16, 1957], No. 36980/57. Class 113. A life raft comprises a ring-shaped frame 1 carrying buoyant elements 2 made of a watertight cellular plastic material housed together with the frame in an imputrescible envelope 3, a floor 4 covering the centre of the raft and equispaced from the upper and lower faces of the raft, and a hood 9 on hoops 7 hinged on the frame at 8 so as to be erected on one side of the raft or the other for use no matter on what side the raft has fallen into the sea. The floor 4 comprises material 6 similar to that of the elements 2 between imputrescible cloths 5. The hood has an opening 11 and a rain-collecting bucket 12, and may be folded down to function as a wash-stroke. In the embodiment of Fig. 5 the floor 4 is made integral with the material of the buoyant elements 2, the assembly being housed in a pair of half shells 14, 15 of a polyester resin reinforced by a glass fibre fabric which overlaps so as to permit a gasket 17 being interposed before the insertion of screws 16 to connect the shells to the frame 1.
