A dinghy, raft or like craft comprising a tubular watertight gunwale 10 surrounding a floor has a canopy consisting of two layers 15, 16 of flexible fabric separated by mechanical spacing means and attached at their periphery to the upper part of the gunwale throughout the length thereof. The spacing means may comprise one or more layers of pile fabric, strips or pads 17 of expanded or sponge rubber, kapok or other open mesh material, or a net. The floor may be similarly formed. The gunwale 10 may be inflatable.
