809,093. Valve gear. NSU WERKE A.G. Nov. 20, 1956 [Nov. 28, 1955], No. 35428/56. Class 7(6): [Also in Group XXVI] In an eccentric drive for an overhead camshaft similar to that described in Specification 713,938 and comprising a pair of driving eccentrics 1 driven by a driving wheel on the shaft 2 and connected by connecting rods to a similar pair of driven eccentrics coupled to a driving wheel on the camshaft, each of the eccentrics is formed as a separate disc and the two eccentrics 1 of each pair are interconnected for rotation with one another by a pin passing through 'bores in both eccentrics. The driving wheel of the driving eccentrics, which may be a toothed gear wheel driven by a meshing gear wheel on the crankshaft, drives the eccentrics through a second pin 3 which engages a bore in the driving wheel; alternatively the pin 4 may be extended to act as the driving pin and the pin 3 omitted. The other pair of eccentrics is similarly connected to the driving wheel on the camshaft. The eccentric discs 1 may be cut from a cylindrical rod and their outer surface carburized before machining. Holes 6 may be bored in the discs to reduce their weight.
