Abstract

566,118. Flexible couplings. BLACKSTONE & CO., Ltd., and TOWNSEND, R. E. J. May 4, 1943, No. 7062. [Class 80 (ii)] Torque is transmitted between members 17, 15 by a plurality of helical springs 22, axially arranged, and accommodated in pockets 18, 16, in the members 17, 15. As shown, for a chain drive for internal-combustion engine auxiliaries, the member 17 is secured to the crank-shaft 1 by a key 19. The member 15 is formed with a chain wheel 14, and, to prevent excessive straining of the springs 22, the key 19 enters a clearance slot 24 in the member 15. The latter is pressed by the springs against a shoulder 13 of the shaft and the friction produced tends to damp out vibratory movement. Radial lubricant grooves 25 are formed in the hub 15 of the chain wheel adjacent the shoulder 13. Specification 410,434 is referred to.
