Abstract

808,409. Interlocking mechanism. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. July 10, 1957 [July 9, 1956], No. 21920/57. Class 80 (3). [Also in Group XXXVII] The push buttons of a multiple selector are interlocked so that actuation of any one button returns any other button to the non-actuated position by a series of superimposed plates which co-operate with radially movable pins associated with each push button. Fig. 2 shows a selector switch having six push buttons of which one, 22, is shown. Each button is mounted on an arm 28 formed with a detent 29 and each detent abuts a roller 31 mounted on an assembly 32 slidable in a radial groove in the base plate 40. Each assembly 32 carries a pin 33 which co-operates with plates 36-38, formed as shown in Figs. 5- 7 and mounted for rotation loosely about an axis 51. Depression of the push button 22 causes the associated normally-open switch 41, 42 to be closed by the arm 28 and the associated assembly 32 to be moved inwardly by the detent 29. Thus the pin 33 carried by the assembly 32 is moved inwardly to the position shown in Figs. 5-7 so that depression of any other push button will, through the camming action of its pin 33, rotate two of the plates 36-38 and return the first push button to the non-actuated position. The push buttons are illuminated by a lamp 23 via prisms 27 so that a depressed button shines.more brightly. The arms 28 may actuate mechanical linkages instead of the switches 41, 42.
