Abstract

1387813 Indicators; latching PLESSEY CO Ltd 6 April 1972 [7 April 1971] 9041/71 Heading H1N In an illuminated push-button switch assembly in which the plungers 3 for the buttons 8 slide through apertures 2 of a panel 1 and are sealed by bellows 6, the illuminating lamps 23 are arranged around the bellows 6 on the front of the panel 1 and are supplied with current via terminals 26 sealed to the panel 1. In the embodiment shown, gallium phosphide lamps 23 are arranged in an annular plastics housing 24 having metallic sockets 25 which are plugged on to the terminals 26. Latching.-The plungers 3 actuate plungers 11 of switches 13 via pivoted plates 10 which provide an amplification of movement. Each plate has a bevelled edge 14 engageable with an edge 15 of a spring loaded apertured latching slide 16 which is caused to move to the right. After full depression, lip 18 passes under the edge 15 whereby the slide 16 is returned to the left under action of its spring 17 whereby the actuated button is held in the depressed position. Actuation of any other button causes the slide 16 to move again to the right to release the previously actuated button.
