Abstract

1,175,578. Mechanical switches. ROBERTSHAW CONTROLS CO. 31 March, 1967 [31 March, 1966], No. 14928/67. Heading H1N. A combined switching and indicating mechanism includes a push-button actuator unit 12 (see also Figs. 1, 2, not shown) which moves an indicating block 62 slidably leftwards against a return spring 76 upon depression, the indicating block rotating on its pivot pins 68, 68a, during the return movement to change its indicia bearing surface visible to the operator, and also rotating cams 66, 66a, to cause actuation of associated switches 36, 36a, via operating levers 54, 54a, and actuating levers 38, 38a. With a subsequent depression of actuator unit 12, the switches are actuated to the reverse condition by a similar process, cams 66, 66a being relatively displaced by 90 degrees as shown. The four visible surfaces of block 62 are coloured differently for viewing via window 16, Fig. 1 (not shown). During return movement, under spring 76, two pawl latches of a pawl plate 70 engage teeth on ratchet-wheels 64 fixed to block 62 and carrying cams 66, 66a, the cams causing pivoting of the operating levers 54, 54a about pins 80, 80a (see also Figs. 5a, 5b, 5c, not shown).
