Abstract

A metallic surface is coated with metal by being contacted, as by bathing, pouring, or spraying, with a metal salt solution and a metal powder suspension containing a surface-active agent. The metal to be coated may be solid or a thin film, e.g. of silver on glass or plastic, the coating metal may be copper, nickel or cobalt, the metal salt solution may be as disclosed in Specification 794,261, and the surface-active agent may be an alkyl aryl sulphonate or sodium salt thereof, or a polyaryl sulphonate.
