Abstract
807,052. Cycles saddles. PIAGGIO & C., S. p. A. Oct. 31, 1956 [Dec. 6, 1955], No. 33279/56. Class 136(3) In a resilient saddle suspension for bicycles the saddle 1 is hinged at a - a to the end of a oscillating arm 2 which is pivoted at its front end to the cycle frame at b - b and the saddle is united in front to the cycle frame directly through a spring 4, the resilient reaction to the loads acting upon the rear portion of the saddle being provided by a, spring 3 placed between the cycle frame and the oscillating arm, independently of the front spring. In a modification shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the spring 12 for reacting to the loads acting upon the Tear portion of the saddle is arranged horizontally between a fixed portion 6 of the frame and the end of a link 13 anchored to an oscillating fork arm 5. The saddle consists of a frame 21, a set of springs 22 and a covering 23 and is hinged on pins 24 at the end of the forked member 5 and connected in front to the fixed portion 6 through a helical spring 7. The forked member 5 rotates with a pin 10 in a support 6a fixed to the vehicle through connections 11. The stroke of the fork 5 is limited in its movement downwards by the spring 12 and in those upwards by the abutment of the fork 5 against the fixed portion 6 with the interposition of a rubbermember 15.
