Abstract

805,454. Luggage - carriers. ASHBY & SONS Ltd., F. July 26, 1957 [Aug. 23, 1956], No. 25715/56. Class 136(1) A hinged clamping frame 6 is attached to a luggage carrier 1 for a cycle by means of an attachment member 7 secured to the carrier by rivets 15 and having an open-ended sleeve part 8 adapted to receive opposed ends of the clamping frame 6. Coiled torsion springs 10 are provided for urging the clamping frame into a clamping position, opposed arms 11, 14 of each spring 10 being adapted to act between the clamping frame 6 and the frame 1 of the luggage carrier. The springs 10 may be mounted on the sleeve part 8 or, as shown in Fig. 6, on the end portions of the clamping frame 6. The bearing sleeves could be gapped in the middle if required or the attachment plates could be made in two sections secured separately to the carrier. There may be two clamping frames, as shown in Fig. 2, or only one frame which may be positioned at the outer end of the carrier 1 instead of at the sides.
