Abstract

806,783. Change-speed gear. MICAFIL AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT WERKE FUR ELEKTRO-ISOLATION UND WICKLEREIEINRICHTUNGEN. April 12, 1955 [April 12, 1954], No. 10457/55. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group XIX] A change-speed gear for driving the feed of a machine for winding layers of very fine wire comprises three stepped wheel sets 7, 8, 9, representing respectively units, tenths and hundredths. driving through planetary summation gear 29, 30 an output member 35, the individual steps of each set being changed by turning respective plates 1, 2, 3, which project through slots in a front cover 42 and carry indicia showing the effective ratio. Each gearset 7, 8, 9 comprises a number of input stepped wheels, e.g. 7, a corresponding number of inversely graded idlers 4, each permanently meshing one step of the wheels 7 and carried by the plate 1 which can be turned to mesh the idlers selectively with a single output wheel 15 on a stationary parallel axis. The first set 7, providing five gear steps and zero by a dummy segment 40, is fast on an input shaft 11, driven through gears 37, 10 by a parallel driving shaft 36; the second set 8, providing nine gear steps and a zero, is freely mounted and driven at a reduction of four to one by gears 12 from the first; the third set 9, also having nine gear steps and zero, being driven at ten to one by gears 13 from the second. The single output wheel 15 of the first set 7 is fast on a long side-shaft 14 also carrying a pinion 16b meshing a planet carrier 32a of the second train of the summation gear. The output wheels 18, 18a of the second and third sets are stepped wheels on side-shafts 17, 19 respectively, carrying pinions 16a, 16, meshing a planet-carrier 32 and wheel 31 on a sun of the first summation train, the second sun of which is fast to the first sun of the second train. The right-hand bearings, e.g. 23b, of the side-shafts 14, 17, 18 are self-aligning, the left-hand bearings 20, 21, 22 being pivoted at 38 to permit retraction of their respective pinions 15 &c. out of mesh with their gear-set before turning the selector plates 1 &c., which latter are locked in gear positions, after returning the pinions into mesh, by projections on the bearings 20 &c., which are themselves latched at 24.
