Abstract

A gasoline component is produced by catalytically reforming a straight-run gasoline or fraction thereof over a platinum catalyst, distilling the reformate to obtain one or more fractions boiling at least partially above 160 DEG C. and subjecting at least one of such fractions to thermal reforming (see Group IV (b)). The thermal reformate may be blended with the untreated light platinum reformate in the production or other ratio, preferably components boiling above 200-230 DEG C. being excluded. Other gasolines may be blended such as straight-run gasoline, cracked gasoline, particularly catalytically cracked gasoline fractions boiling below 85-135 DEG C., reformed gasoline, polymer or alkylate gasoline, isomerized light hydrocarbon fractions, isopentane, butane or butene, the C4 hydrocarbons being necessary to increase the vapour pressure. Tetra-ethyl lead, and other gasoline additives may be added. Specification 742,769, [Group IV (b), is referred to.ALSO:A straight run gasoline or fraction thereof is catalytically reformed over a platinum catalyst, the resulting reformate is distilled to separate one or more fractions boiling at least partially above 160 DEG C. and at least one of these fractions is subjected to thermal reforming. The catalytic reforming may be performed at 480-570 DEG C. under a hydrogen partial pressure of 6-50 atm. gauge. The reformate subjected to thermal reforming preferably contains no components boiling below 75 DEG C. and components boiling above 200-230 DEG C. may also be removed; suitable fractions are all components boiling above 85 DEG C., or above 105 DEG C., or above 132 DEG C. or above 160 DEG C. The thermal reforming may be performed at 500-600 DEG C. and 15-135 atm. gauge, if desired in the presence of hydrogen and/or other gas or vapours such as steam, butane, butene or propane. Products boiling above 200-230 DEG C. may be removed. The thermal reformate may be blended with the untreated light platformate in the production or other ratio, platformate boiling above 200-230 DEG C. being excluded if not thermally reformed. Other gasolines may be blended with this material (see Group III). Specification 742,769 is referred to.
