[Also in Group XVIII] A toy cooking stove has a scale 6 over which a pointer 7 is moved by a mechanism in the stove body 1 consisting of an external operable member 10 connected with a toothed segment 28, the latter being in one-way driving engagement with reduction gearing and spring-biased so that the segment drives the gearing slowly restoring pointer 7 and member 10 to their original positions. As shown, stove body 1 has a top-plate 2 with hot-plates 3 and a back wall carrying a scale 6. The winding lever 10 is integral with segment 28 and is biased by a spring 9 to its upper position. A crown-wheel 19 rotating with lever 10 drives pinion 20 on a shaft having pivot 21 at its other end which drives wheel 22 to rotate pointer 7 on a shaft 8. When lever 10 is lowered, it moves pointer 7 and biases the spring 9 and, when released, segment 28 engages gear-wheel 11, 12 and drives it and hence through gearing 13, 14, 15 returns lever 10 and pointer 7 to their original positions. A governor 16 associated with gear 15 governs the rate at which lever 10 rises and engages a gong 23 to give audible warning of the end of the timing. In a modification, lever 10 is replaced by a rotary member 27 with a handle 26 to which is secured the toothed segment 28. Another toothed segment 30 mounted on a shaft 27 meshes with the driving pinion 31 of reduction gearing and carries the bell gong 23 with which governor 16 co-operates.
