Abstract

805,118. Ammunition primers. DYNAMIT-AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT VORM, A. NOBEL & CO. Dec. 31, 1956 [Dec. 29, 1955], No. 39722/56. Class 9(1) A primer for ammunition cartridges comprises, within a casing 1, a cylindrical priming charge 6 housed in an annular electrode 8 and compressed against a disc-shaped electrode 3 by a foil 7, insulating rings 2, 9 being used to separate the electrodes. The electrode 8 consists of an outer ring 4 and an inner ring 5 which is flanged to hold the foil 7 in place. In use the electrode 8 is earthed through the projectile casing and the firearm, and the priming charge may be rendered semi-conductive by the inclusion of graphite and metal powders. The joints between the various parts may be sealed by lacquering. In a modification the flanged ring 5 is omitted and the ring 4 has inwardly extending lugs which bear on the charge 6 to hold it in contact with the electrode 3. In a further modification the foil 7 is omitted and the ring 5 replaced by a cupshaped member into which the charge 6 is pressed, the base of the cup being weakened by a fracture groove.
