Abstract
804,912. Protective cut-out arrangements. SOUTH WESTERN ELECTRICITY BOARD and SNOW, L. T. March 9, 1955 [March 9, 1954), No. 6888/54. Class 38 (5). A control device for automatically reclosing a circuit-breaker comprises switches 1, 2, an armature 3 and solenoids 5, 7. When the contacts 6 of a fault responsive relay close, the opening coil 8 of the circuit-breaker (not shown) and the solenoid 5 are energized. The latter moves the armature 3 from the position X to the position Y to open the switch 1 without delay to de-energize the solenoid 5 and after a first time delay to close the switch 2. The closing of the switch 2 causes the energizing of a closing coil 9 to reclose the circuit-breaker and the energizing of the solenoid 7 to restore the armature 3 to its initial position X. The switch 2 opens without delay, but the switch 1 only recloses after a second time delay, so that if the relay contacts 6 are reclosed during the second time delay the circuit-breaker is again opened but not reclosed as the circuit for the solenoid 5 has not been completed by the switch 1. The switches 1, 2 may be mercury switches which when suitably tilted, open in 0.5 seconds and close in 30 seconds.
