Abstract

Aqueous solutions of thiamine hydrochloride which are suitable for parenteral administration and which remain clear of sediment and solid deposits over a prolonged period of time comprise thiamine hydrochloride in aqueous solution having a pH in the range 3 to 3.5 and containing per unit volume 0.001 to 1 per cent by weight of ethylenediamine-tetra-acetic acid or an ammonium, alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt thereof. Benzyl alcohol and chlorobutanol may be incorporated as preservatives.
