Abstract

804,498. Supply systems for vehicles. STONE & CO. (DEPTFORD), Ltd., J. Nov. 29, 1956 [Dec. 3, 1955], No. 34677/55. Class 38 (4). In a system for charging a battery 13 from a vehicle driven alternator 11 through a rectifier 12, a relay 16, responsive to the difference between the alternator voltage, applied to a resistor 15 through an auxiliary rectifier 10, and the battery voltage is used to close contacts 17 and shunt a resistance 18 in series with the load 14 when the battery voltage exceeds the rectified alternator voltage. In another embodiment, resistor 15 is replaced by a differential relay coil controlling a contactor for shunting resistor 18. A further relay may also be provided to disconnect the battery from rectifier 12.
