Abstract

804,250. Endless belt conveyers. FIBREGLASS, Ltd. Oct. 11, 1956 [Nov. 22, 1955], No. 33377/55. Class 78 (1). The lower run of a conveyer 3 passes over rollers 7, 8, the shaft 9 of the former of which is movable axially in ball races in self-aligning housings 10 fixed to the framework 11 and the shaft 13 of the latter of which is supported in a self-aligning bearing 14 fixed with respect to the framework and in a rigid ball race mounted on a carriage 16 which is movable longitudinally of the belt. A roller 18 mounted at the free end of one arm of a bell-crank lever 19 is disposed between spaced collars 17 on the end of the shaft 9. The other arm of the lever 19 is connected by a pin-and-slot connection to a link 20 attached to the carriage. Any deviation of the belt causes one of its edges to contact a flange 12 of the roller 7 with consequent axial movement of the shaft 9. This movement will turn the lever 19 and the carriage 16 will be moved along the framework 11 to turn the shaft 13 of the roller 8 angularly in a direction to steer the belt back towards the centre.
