Class 20(4) In reinforced concrete a twisted steel bar a of generally polygonal cross-section having on concave lateral faces in the untwisted state raised projections b each of a length substantial in relation to its crosssectional dimensions and not projecting beyond an imaginary connecting line between adjacent corners of the polygonal cross-section, has the projections b extending parallel to the bar axis or forming angles with lines parallel to the bar axis which do not exceed the angle of twist, the projections being subjected to stretching when the bar is twisted. The projections b which alternatively may be of star-like form, Figs. 4 to 6 (not shown), are incorporated to reduce brittleness of the cold bent bars a whilst still retaining their toughness and concrete bonding properties.
