Abstract
1,258,767. Making reinforcement bars. VON ROLL A.G. 24 Dec., 1968 [28 Dec., 1967], No. 61466/68. Heading B3A. [Also in Division E1] A reinforcement bar is made by cold twisting a rolled bar of polygonal cross-section having at least four substantially plane lateral surfaces, such that the bar edges form helical ribs on twisting and ribs formed on the bar surfaces lie obliquely to the helical ribs. A bar of square cross-section is provided with ribs 3 and when it is twisted the edges 2 form helical ribs and the ribs 3 are inclined to the bar axis in the opposite sense to the helical ribs at an angle 4 smaller than 25 degrees. Alternatively the bar may have ribs (5) formed along its edges, which form well defined helical ribs on twisting. In this case the oblique ribs lie at a small angle to the bar axis, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown). The ribs may lie obliquely to the bar axis in the same sense as the helical ribs and again the angle of inclination is smaller than 25 degrees.
