In a baker's oven of the tray conveyer type adapted to be charged and discharged at one end of the oven, and in which the laps 6 and 7 of the conveyer are separated by a partition 8 as described in Specification 526,670, the suction conduit 12 has controllable, longitudinally extending openings 13 and 14 disposed on opposite sides of said partition, and end offtakes 15 controlled by dampers 16. Opening 13 comprises a series of aligned apertures 17 controlled by a similarly apertured plate 18 displaceable longitudinally in a frame 19 in the manner of a "hit-and-miss" damper by a rod 20 extending outside the oven. Opening 14 comprises a slot 21 which widens towards the centre and is controlled by an arcuate damper 22 carried on arms 23 extending radially from a shaft 24 rotated by a handle 27 outside the oven. When the damper is fully opened, the radial arms 23 engage recesses 27. Both openings may take the form of one or the other of the above constructions. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the damper comprises a pair of arcuate plates co-operating with a rectangular slot, and being adjustable both relatively and with respect to the slot. If the opening formed is to be wider at the centre, the plates are made to overlap, so that said opening may be completely closed.
