In a control valve device for pneumatic brakes on rail vehicles comprising a control reservoir RK having a substantially constant pressure therein, which is brought into communication with the main air line HP in dependence on the pressure in the brake cylinder BV, which acting in chamber 31, effects through diaphragm 32 and valve 37 communication between the main air line HP and the control reservoir RK, there is provided a non-return valve 30 with a calibrated aperture Y, such non-return valve being operative to permit a rapid falling of the chamber 31 in the event of the air pressure in the brake cylinder BV rising and a slow emptying of the chamber 31 in the event of the pressure in the brake cylinder BV dropping.
