Abstract

803,152. Electrostatic precipitation. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A.G. Aug. 14, 1956 [Sept. 29, 1955], No. 24891/56. Class 39(1). The collecting electrodes of an electrostatic precipitator are narrow freely swinging metal slats 1, suspended at each end from endless chains 2 which run over top and bottom rollers 3 whose axes are parallel with the direction of gas flow. The discharge electrodes 4 are positioned within each endless belt. The collecting electrodes are cleaned by means of scrapers or shavers above the bottom roller, or by knocking against stops 7, 8, Fig. 4, or by brushes or blowing equipment 9. The cleaning means may be reciprocated by common levers 11, Fig. 1. The brushes, shavers or scrapers may be urged into contact with the collecting electrodes by their own weight or springs.
