Abstract

802,020. Photo-electric control arrangements. GAUTHIER G.m.b.H., A. Dec. 2, 1955 [Dec. 23, 1954], No. 34595/55. Class 40 (3). A photographic shutter is provided with a photo-electric exposure control mechanism including a lever system which senses the position of the movable part of the meter mechanism from two opposing sides. This arrangement operates effectively and exerts no turning moment on the meter mechanism even when the pivot shaft of the latter is resiliently mounted for the purpose of safeguarding it against shock. In one embodiment the meter shaft carries two corresponding cam surfaces 8b, the position of each of which is felt by the arms 9b, 10a, of levers 9 and 10 pivoted respectively at 11 and 12. The opposite ends of the two levers co-operate with each other by means of slot 9a and pin 13. A. slot in the arm 10a and a pin on the end of one arm (not shown) of lever 17 (Fig. 3), transforms the meter information into a positioning of the stop 17c on the end of arm 17b of lever 17. A light spring 18 associated with lever 17 maintains the arms 9b, 10a, against the control cams 8b. The stop 17c abuts against one or other of the steps 19a on setting ring 19, the pressure of the ring against the stop producing no, or only a small clockwise, turning moment on the lever 17. The ring 19 is arranged to be adjustable on exposure setting member 20 by means of handle 19c which may be positioned, for example, in accordance with the speed of the film in use as indicated on the co-operating scale. So that the meter moment may be completely free to move the exposure setting member may include an abutment which strikes against pin 13 in its initial position and lifts the lever arms 9b and 10a from the cams 8b. A detent device holds the setting member, when set, against the tension of a spring 4. The latching of the setting member is released by depressing button 7 and the member then returns to its initial position.
