Abstract

The invention comprises metallizable dyestuffs of formula <FORM:0801900/IV (c)/1> where X is H, a halogen atom or a phenyl, amino or acetyl-amino group and Y may be substituted which are made by diazotizing an appropriate amine and coupling, preferably in a neutral or faintly alkaline solution, with the benzthiazole component. Indicated as substituents for Y are alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, trifluoromethyl, acetylamino, alkylsulphonyl and sulphon-alkyl-, -dialkyl-, -hydroxyalkyl- and -dehydroxyalkyl-amides. Specified amines are 2-, 3- and 4-anisidines, 2- and 4-aminophenyl b -hydroxyethyl ethers, aniline, 3-trifluoromethyl-, 2-, 3- and 4-chloro- and 2,5-dichlor- and -dimethoxy - anilines, 4 - aminobenzenesulphon-diethyl- and -dihydroxy - alkyl - amides, 2-methoxyaniline - 5 - ethylsulphone and 3- and 4-aminoacetanilides. Specified coupling components are 4-hydroxyobenzthiazole and its 2-chloro-, -phenyl-, -amino- and -acetylaminoderivatives. The dyestuffs are applied, preferably in a disperse form, to artificial textile materials, e.g. cellulose esters, polyamides and polyacrylonitriles, in conjunction with a metallization process. Cobalt, nickel, chromium and copper yielding substances are mentioned, the latter being preferred. Yellow shades are obtained. Examples are provided of the preparation of dyestuffs chosen from the above specified components and their use in dyeing processes, p - aminobenzene - 4 - sulphon - di - (b -hydroxyethyl) amide being the sulphon-di-hydroxyalkylamide used.
