801,063. Operating clutches. LLEWELLYN, Ltd., W. J., and GREENHILL, D. H. Nov. 5, 1956 [Nov. 4, 1955], No. 31533/55. Class 80 (2). A one-revolution drive for a bowing-machine A comprises an axially-fixed input clutch member 7, continuously driven through reduction gear 5 by an electric motor 6, and having a clutch dog 7a for engagement by a dog 8a on an axially movable output clutch member 8 slidably keyed to an output shaft 14. The output clutch member 8 is normally held out of engagement by a spring-loaded pin 24, withdrawal of which, through a cable 25 by a manual start pedal, permits a spring 9 to move the clutch member 8 down into engagement with the input member 7. The output shaft 14 then rotates, driving the bowing-machine A through a chain 20, until a cam 8c on the underface of the output clutch member 8 rides up an adjustably-fixed trip 12, causing the clutch member 8 to be raised out of engagement for retention by the released pin 25. A spring 21 on the chain 20 then returns the machine and clutch member 8 to an angularly fixed initial start position against a fixed stop 23. The trip 12 is carried on a bracket 13 adjustable about the shaft 14 by a tangential screw 17 on the frame and clamped by a screw 15.
