Abstract
1,176,711. Clutches. NICHIRO KOGYO K.K. 12 Jan., 1967, No. 1803/67. Headings F2C and F2L. [Also in Division B8] Torque transmitted from a member 36 (Fig. 4), through circumferentially arranged springs 57 to a member 50 causes axial movement of a member 35 keyed slidingly at 62 to the member 50. The members 36 and 35 engage one another through saw-teeth (58), (Fig. 3, not shown) so that the relative angular movement permitted by the springs 57 causes axial movement of the member 35 against a spring 59. In the binding machine (see Division B8) described, this movement is applied through a linkage (Fig. 7) to initiate the operation of a one-revolution clutch. The one-revolution clutch comprises a latch 72 (Fig. 6), pivoted at 73 to a normally stationary member 70 but allowed to rise, under the influence of a spring 75, when a stop 74 is removed, so that the latch engages dogs 68 on a rotating member 67 which in consequence drives the member 70. Towards the end of one revolution the stop 74 is returned by a cam 93 to the position in which it disengages the latch 72. A further cam 29 driven from the member 70 disconnects the drive to the torque-measuring device described above, so that the linkage is reset to the position in which it does not displace the stop 74.
