The vibrating plate 8 which rests on the surface of the concrete in the mould 4 is, after moulding is completed, removed from the surface of the concrete by a combined lifting and lateral movement. (If the plate is lifted vertically off the concrete it tends to stick thereto). The drawing shows a horizontal table 1 which is intermittently rotated in 90 degrees steps about a vertical support 2 to position each of four moulds in turn below the vibrating plate 8. The plate is carried by a vibrator 7 which is horizontally slidable on a guide 9, and is urged outwardly by a spring 16 and pulled inwardly by a chain, cable &c. 13 secured to a wheel 12. The guide 9 and wheel 12 are secured to a support member b mounted on the top of a piston rod 10 which may be raised by pressure acting on piston 11. A chain 15 fastened at one end to the support 2 runs around a chain wheel 14 fast with wheel 12, its other end hanging freely. In operation the rod 10 is raised, thus raising the vibrator plate off the concrete in the mould, and simultaneously the chain 15 pulls the wheels 14, 12 counterclockwise so that the vibrator is pulled inwardly. The relative movement between the table and a stationary curved sector 6 causes lifting pins 5 to be raised which engage a steel plate underneath the cast article and lift it out of the mould.
