Abstract
649,300. Load-handling machines. DIXON, M. G. (Graye, H.). June 21, 1948, No. 16664. [Class 78 (iii)] [Also in Groups V and XXXII] Apparatus of the kind adapted for moulding concrete blocks on a casting bed or the like which is separate from the apparatus, and for vertically moving moulds which are open at the top and bottom, from the moulded blocks, and which is also adapted to be brought to different positions over the casting bed, comprises a chassis 11 mounted on ground or rail wheels 15, and a mould carrier 17 mounted on the chassis and adapted for vertical movement relative thereto, and is characterized in that a hydraulic jack 25 is mounted on the chassis and is adapted to effect the vertical movement of the carrier. The chassis 11 has side rails 12, a top rail 13, foot rails 14, and guide rails 16 between which the mould carrier 17 is vertically moved. A manually-operated hydraulic pump 27 actuates the ram 24, 25 to move by means of rods 26 the carrier 17 and the fixedly or removably attached mould 19, and a vibrating device 21 is rigidly mounted on the carrier 17. In operation, the apparatus is wheeled over a casting bed, carrier 17 with the attached mould 19 is lowered on to the bed the mould is filled with a concrete mix, and the vibrator is operated to consolidate the concrete. The carrier and mould are then raised and the apparatus moved to a new casting position.
