Abstract

A heat-sterilizable wrapper or container, e.g. for food or beverages, is made of polyethylene having a molecular weight of at least 100,000. The polyethylene is produced by a low-pressure process using an organo-metallic compound as a catalyst and is stated to withstand temperatures in the range 120-130 DEG C. without appreciable softening.ALSO:A heat-sterilizable wrapper or container for food or beverages, such as milk or beer, is made of polyethylene having a molecular weight of at least 100,000. It is stated that this polyethylene will withstand temperatures of 120-130 DEG C. without appreciable softening, so that the wrapper or container and its contents may be subjected to temperatures within this range for sterilization purposes without affecting the shape of the package.
