Abstract
A process for substantially decreasing the caking tendencies of granular mixed fertilizers containing ammonium chloride or containing constituents that may give rise to ammonium chloride, comprises incorporating in the fertilizer during manufacture a minor amount, e.g. 0,001 per cent to 0,2 per cent by weight, of at least one of the following: (1) water soluble salts of cadmium or divalent manganese e.g. the chlorides; (2) the disodium salt of b -b 1-disulpho-dinaphthylmethane and (3) water-soluble polyphosphate e.g. sodium hexametaphosphate. Preferably the additive is incorporated as a solution sprayed on the granules of the mixed fertilizer.
