Abstract
The invention comprises 11b ,17a ,21-trihydroxy - 1,4 - pregnadiene - 3,20 - dione - 21-cyclopentylcarboxylate, which is prepared by esterification of the corresponding 21-hydroxy compound, for example by reaction with cyclopentylformic acid anhydride, chloride or bromide, ester by ester exchange, or the acid itself in the presence of an esterification catalyst. In an example, prednisolone is esterified with cyclopentylcarboxylic acid chloride in the presence of pyridine.
