Abstract

The invention comprises the 21-trimethylacetate ester of D 1,4-3,11,20-trioxo-17a ,21-di-hydroxypregnadiene and its preparation by reaction of D 1,4-3,11,20-trioxo - 17a ,21 - di-hydroxypregnadiene or a 21-functional derivative thereof with trimethylacetic acid or a functional derivative thereof. In an example: 1-dehydrocortisone and trimethylacetyl chloride are reacted in the presence of pyridine giving the 21-trimethylacetate. Specification 825,210 also is referred to.
