Abstract
798,459. Cartridge filling machines. ALITE MACHINES, Ltd. March 6, 1957, No. 7409/57. Class 9(1) [Also in Group XXIX] A hydraulic link for a powder filling machine has a cylinder 4 containing a driving piston 17, and a driven piston 20 with a column of liquid between them. The driving piston 17 is reciprocated and when the pressure of the liquid between the pistons reaches a value determined by the setting of an adjustable relief valve 40, liquid is forced past valve 40 to a tank 46. Hence the setting of the valve 40 controls the amplitude of stroke of, speed of, and pressure exerted on, piston 20 to suit different constitutions of powder, humidity conditions and sizes of receptacles. The piston 17 is reciprocated by a rotating cam 14 acting on roller 13, arm 9 and piston rod 7. On the return stroke, liquid is supplied from the tank 46 through a non-return valve 30 to between the pistons and the piston 17 is pulled back by a spring 16.
