Abstract

798,315. Roofs, walls and floors. ANDERSON & SON, Ltd., D. Dec. 10, 1956 [Dec. 23, 1955], No. 36905/55. Class 20(4) A floor, roof, or wall is formed of overlapping panel units each consisting of two oppositely directed flat-bottomed channels 1, 2, with a common dividing wall 3 and side walls 4, 5, having respectively an inwardly directed and outwardly directed flange 4a, 5a, the wall 4 of one unit being secured to the dividing wall 3 of its overlapping unit to form a rigid structure having a series of rectangular section hollow panels alternating with narrow channels 6. The walls 3, 4, are provided with holes 3a, 4b, for the securing screws or bolts, slots 1a being provided for access to the securing means. The units are secured to purlins or like bearers by screws, bolts or clips preferably positioned in the channels 6 and passing through the flange 5a and wall 2. In forming a roof Fig 1, the units are covered by a rigid insulating sheet 7 and one or more layers 8 of roof felting and bitumen. The channels 6 may be filled with an insulating material and insulating material may be prefixed to the inside of the channels 2 or positioned therein during erection. The panel units may be formed of metal, plastic, asbestos or timber.
