Abstract

798,291. Drying accumulator plates. CLYDE BATTERIES PTY., Ltd. Feb. 22, 1957, No. 6083/57. Class 34(2) Accumulator plates are dried by a drying medium which is circulated through the plates and converts the moisture therein into super-heated steam. In the embodiment described, the plates 9 suspended from hooks 8 on a conveyer 7 pass through a drying tunnel and are dried in sections 3 and 4 by steam which is circulated by a fan 22 and heated in a heat exchanger 21 having a valve-controlled inlet 25 for additional steam. The plates then pass through section 5 where they are cooled by unheated steam from section 4. The plates pass through a washing tank and water seat before entering the drying tunnel.
