Abstract
797,847. Welding by pressure; soldering. GALLAY, Ltd., and DELANEY, C. T. Feb. 21, 1957 [Dec. 15, 1955], No. 36021/55. Class 83 (4). In resistance welding parts of cupreous metal or alloy, a lamina of metal having a lower thermal conductivity than the cupreous metal or alloy and coated on both sides with solder is disposed between the parts and welding current is then passed through the parts. With a mild steel strip 14 having tin coatings 15, 16 thereon between brass parts 11, 12 of a motor vehicle radiator resistance seam or spot welds are effected by electrodes 17, 18. Silver or other solder may be used.
