Class 68(1) [Also in Group XXX] The shovel-carrying boom of a shovelling machine is raised and lowered by one or more jacks each acting on the boom through a linkage that includes a member pivotally mounted on the chassis of the machine. The linkage is so designed that the angular movement of the boom is greater than would be the case if the jack or jacks acted directly on the boom. Various linkage constructions are described. Specification 734,592 [Group XXX] is referred to.
